From selling pickles in the streets of Manhattan to becoming a multinational company.
Bloch & Guggenheimer and the B&G brand were founded in 1889 by the Bloch and Guggenheimer families, immigrants who came to America seeking a better life. They began by selling pickles in the streets of Manhattan, and the B&G brand continued to grow over the years because the Bloch and Guggenheimer families steadfastly placed the quality of their products above all else. The B&G brand formed the nucleus of B&G Foods when it was founded in 1996.
Today, B&G Foods’ family of brands includes more than 50 well-known and loved brands, including 15 brands offered by B&G Foods Canada, and our commitment to food safety and quality remains our number one priority.
B&G Foods Canada was founded in 2011. B&G Foods Canada’s headquarters have been in Mississauga, Ontario since 2016.
One of our primary strategies is to achieve net sales and earnings growth by acquiring complementary branded businesses that are most relevant to today's consumer. We seek to acquire shelf-stable, frozen and snack brands with strong brand equity, leading market positions, high margins, distribution expansion opportunities and compelling cost efficiencies at attractive valuations.
We aim to improve and grow acquired brands post-acquisition through increased management focus and integration into our well-established manufacturing, sales, distribution and administrative infrastructure. We believe we can continue our strong track record of successfully acquiring and integrating brands into the B&G Foods family. Below is an acquisition timeline for the brands currently offered by B&G Foods Canada.
